THE STORY BEHIND MN GALB
Noura AlSabah holds a Master’s of Science in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology from the University College of London (UCL), The Anna Freud Centre and a Graduate Membership (MBPsS) from the British Psychological Society (BPS). After her Masters she worked for one year at Cumberland School, Newham, as a General Psychological Volunteer. While in London she also studied Islamic Counselling, a L3 certificate in Counselling Studies, certified by the Counselling & Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB).
Delving into the realm of Islamic Studies Noura started looking for scientific research on the Power of the Heart. She came across the Islamic Institute for Development and Research (IIDR) giving a course on “Spiritual Intelligence- the new IQ” at Queens Mary University.
There she met Andy Pellant, the Chair of HeartMath UK-
a biofeedback system that aids the development of emotional resilience.
A few months later she became a Certified HeartMath Trainer.
Back when her journey of self-discovery kicked off, Noura had a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Management and a Minor in Psychology from the American University of Kuwait (AUK) . She worked two years as a Psychological Researcher at The Social Development Office (SDO). During her working years she took an Advanced Practitioner of Psychological Counselling Course with Dr Othman AlAsfour (a course in Arabic) to strengthen her Arabic psychology terminology. She can guarantee you google translate wasn’t as good as it is now. After taking this course, her supervisor encouraged her to continue her studies.
In 2016, as a HeartMath trainer Noura started giving workshops/talks on self-development. The purpose of these talks was to spread awareness on psychology from an Islamic perspective. She merged her backgrounds in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychoanalysis, HeartMath and Islamic Counselling to come up with a compelling unprecedented way of thought. The project was titled “Heart2Reason”, she was inspired by the Ayah from the Quran that states “Having hearts to reason with”. After a few workshops she decided to change the name of the project to “MN GALB”, an Arabic adverb that means “from the heart”. In 2017, Noura Consulting LLC was born.
Noura believes that she’s a student for life, and that the more you learn the less you know. She continues to take courses to develop her understanding in psychology, mental health, & self-development. She’s trying to constantly change her life to the better just like you . Keen for knowledge & exploration she attended Dr Joe Dispenza’s Progressive Workshop. Another eye opening experience was the Breath of Life Conference in (Regent University) where she attended talks for world-known speakers in this field; Dr Rollin McCraty, Dr Bessel Van der Kolk, Dr Gabor Mate & Dr Stephen Porges among others. Her latest certification was becoming an Neurolinguistics Programming Practitioner by Dr Richard Bandler himself.
Keeping up with the digital era and having online courses from prestigious Universities at your fingertips (edX) she has taken the “Science of Happiness” course from (UC Berkeley & GGSC), “Leaders of Learning” (Harvard University), “Leading Change in Times of Disruption” (MIT) and Behaviour Analysis & Micro Macro expressions Dr Paul Ekman’s Group.
The next few years were devoted to understanding, integrating, and deepening that knowledge, which marked the beginning of an intense inward journey.
Later, she began to work in Kuwait with small public and corporate groups.
